Montefiore Medical Center is an internationally recognized leader in modern healthcare research and education. With highly competitive residency programs in all aspects of medicine, it is affiliated with one of the most prestigious medical schools in the nation, Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM).
The Montefiore Post-Graduate Residency is a 52 week, full-time postgraduate residency program offering intensive training in obstetrics and gynecology. PA residents are trained alongside the OB/GYN physician residents and are exposed to the management of OB/GYN patients in a variety of settings and circumstances. The PA-Resident will have rotations focused on Antepartum, Labor and Delivery, and Postpartum services, along with rotations on the GYN and GYN oncology services, including ultrasound and surgical instruction. Upon completion of this residency, the PA should be competent in performing vaginal deliveries, 1st assisting in Cesarean deliveries and gynecological surgeries, and performing office-based gynecological procedures.
The didactic portion consists of daily morning rounds, weekly lectures by attending physicians, residents and PAs, monthly journal clubs, morbidity and mortality conferences, assigned readings, and self-directed learning. The clinical portion consists of trainings and experience in labor and delivery, ER consults, OR assisting, post-operative management and outpatient management.
Cost and Benefits
There is no fee or tuition for the program. Benefits include a stipend, malpractice insurance, medical insurance, and vacation. Housing and meals will be facilitated.
Upon graduation from the residency, the physician assistant receives a Certificate of Completion of a Postgraduate OB/GYN Residency from Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Salary is $50,000 for the 52 week program. Health insurance, malpractice insurance and paid vacation are included.
