Hospital Medicine

The Department of Hospital Medicine at Regions Hospital is offering a post-graduate program for Physician Assistants interested in advanced training in Hospital Medicine. The Hospital Medicine PA Fellowship Program will offer the PA learner extensive training in Hospital Medicine through a variety of teaching environments and subspecialties.

Our mission is to train highly-qualified PAs to become skilled, compassionate, efficient hospitalist providers with a focus on population health.

Length of Program: 12 months

Class Size: 1

Starting Date: March annually

The PA Fellow will receive a PGY-1 stipend of approximately $50,000 for the 12 month program and a complete benefits package will be offered.




Hospital Medicine PA Fellow will be required to study the core content curriculum that is required for hospital medicine board certification. PA Fellow will participate in weekly conferences with the Internal Medicine physician residents. They will be required to certify in ACLS. During the fellowship, the PA Fellow will be required to complete eight identified Tutorials, four content exams, along with one final exam.


Hospital Medicine PA Fellow will devote a significant portion of their training to hospital medicine. They will have required rotations in specialty areas essential for proficiency in hospital medicine.

12 month clinical rotation schedule (subject to change)

  • 6 months Hospital Medicine
  • 6 weeks Critical Care/Pulmonary
  • 4 weeks Cardiology
  • 2 weeks Infectious Disease
  • 2 weeks Nephrology
  • 2 weeks Neurology
  • 2 weeks Hematology/Oncology
  • 2 weeks Emergency Medicine
  • 2 weeks Palliative Care
  • 2 weeks Hospital Medicine at partner community hospital


The Hospital Medicine PA Fellowship Program is designed to meet the requirements for Clinical Post Graduate PA Programs as determined by The Accreditation Review Commission of Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).


Application requirements

  • Degree from an ARC-PA accredited PA Program prior to matriculation into the program
  • A Baccalaureate degree or higher
  • Eligible for National Certification by the NCCPA. New graduates may apply who are PANCE eligible.
  • Minnesota and Wisconsin licensure or eligibility
  • Official PA Program transcripts
  • Three professional letters of recommendation
