Program Description and History

Atrium Health is the second largest public healthcare system in the country with over 900 care locations and 28 Urgent Care centers. This vast network offers premier clinical training sites for the Urgent Care fellowship tracks




Weekly structured didactic curriculum in each fellowship track

Direct supervision of a wide array of practice-specific procedures

Access to system-wide conferences, learning sessions and grand rounds discussions

Opportunity to collaborate in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care

Urgent Care Fellows

Will participate in Urgent Care specific and relevant Emergency Medicine didactics

At least 36 hours per week of experiential sessions in the Urgent Care setting

Class Size

34 per cohort variable size in each specialty track

Curriculum Vitae, official transcripts, copy of BLS/ACLS/PALS cards, copies of certifications and licenses once received and Statement of interest.

3 letters of recommendation

Recent photograph


Interviews to be performed in May and November. Offer letters to be sent in June and December. Confirmation of acceptance by the applicant 1 week after offer letter is sent to the candidate


Selection Criteria

Completion of master’s level graduate degree is required prior to the start of the fellowship program (You may apply prior to graduation.) Must have a national board certification as a PA and be eligible for licensure as a PA in North Carolina. The PA should be highly motivated, dedicated, demonstrate stress management skills, poise and confidence, possess a passion of the profession, be able to adapt to an ever changing environment, and be able to work within a multi-professional team.
