Acute Care/ Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant Residency (ACTSPAR)
The UCSF Fresno Acute Care/Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant Residency Program is affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. We offer a twelve-month surgical residency program that will provide intense training in the perioperative and operative management of patients. The primary training site will be at our affiliated teaching hospital Community Regional Medical Centers (CRMC) in Fresno, CA. CRMC is the only level 1 American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified Trauma Center serving the Central San Joaquin Valley, population two million people. CRMC is also a regional Burn Center-the only center between Los Angeles and the Bay area and has the fifth busiest emergency departments in California. CRMC is composed of an inpatient facility with several multispecialty clinics on its campus.
PA Residents will develop critical thinking and surgical assistant skills throughout the year. Residents can expect to gain the fundamentals of surgical care through both didactic and clinical settings in a multitude of surgery subspecialties to best prepare for a career in surgery. Surgical rotations include, general surgery, burns, orthopedics, ACS/trauma, ER, urology, Trauma ICU, Surgical ICU, vascular and oncology (breast, hepato-pancreato-biliary HPB, endocrine).
